The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) is a professional membership organization dedicated to the advancement of Black leadership in the public sector. Founded in 1983, the NFBPA membership has grown to include managers and executives in virtually all disciplines represented in state and local governments. In addition to public service professionals, the association's membership embraces graduate students, deans and faculty at schools of public administration and executives in the corporate sector.

The Savannah Metropolitan Chapter was founded in 2007 by 33 local public administrators. In April 2008, the Chapter made it's first appearance at FORUM 2008 in Little Rock, Arkansas. During this conference, the Chapter was recognized as being the fastest growing chapter in the country in it's category. In August 2008, the Chapter hosted it's Inaugural Scholarship Banquet, in memory of Beverly M. Whitehead, a beloved local Public Administrator and former member of NFBPA who passed away in August 1998.

In February 2009, The Savannah Metro Chapter hosted the Winter Leadership Meeting in Savannah, GA.
